Land training for swimmers

It is now well understood by many coaches and athletes that to excel in an aquatic sport, you need to think outside the pool! 

By participating in 'land training, in particular strength & conditioning sessions, an athlete can quickly improve their speed, agility, reaction, balance, posture, muscular strength and power, as the body can be stressed to a greater extend (due to the lack of water buoyancy and the increase in ground reaction forces) leading to expeditious training adaptations. 

'Land' training is also crucial for injury prevention, as it allows the athlete to isolate and develop specific areas of the body that are prone to injury. Strengthening injury risk areas of the body will not only reduce time spent out of the water should an injury occur, but can lead to greater muscular power output, coordination, and energy efficiency. Consequently, the athlete is able to powerfully execute their sports performance using less energy and with greater force.

As a result of the many performance benefits stated, we have developed swim-specific personal training sessions to ensure the relationship between the land and water work is synchronised and productive to the athlete.

Strength & Conditioning Sessions

Benefit from our swimming-specific strength & conditioning training sessions. Improve your core and full-body muscular strength, power, reaction, flexibility and endurance. Challenge your body in a completely different environment and build the essential performance attributes as a result.

    What it involves:

  • You either tell us what you want to be the focus of the session or we tailor it for your needs
  • You learn and practice a series of strength & conditioning training exercises
  • You benefit from the training adaptations and muscular development in your swimming performance

    Venues:

    Suitable for: masters, triathletes, open water & club swimmers (aged 10+)

Injury Prevention Sessions

Improve your sports performance foundation with one of our most innovative training experiences. Develop and build a solid platform of muscular strength, flexibility, and endurance in areas that are high in injury risk and crucial for sport-specific movements.

   What it involves:

  • You either tell us what area you want to develop or we provide an assessment, tailored to your injury risk areas
  • You practise and learn from the preventative exercises prescribed
  • You benefit from a reduction in injury risk, fully functional and stronger musculo-skeletal system 

   Venues:

    Suitable for: masters, triathletes, open water & club swimmers

    Fee: £59 / 60mins sessions
